Here are a list of linux based audio and/or video based media CD and downloadable distributions, and also content. Some links taken from Dave Phillips site.
- Tons of audio apps, livecd & distros. Mainly responsible for maintaining DeMuDi - A Custom Debian Distribution. Does not work well with hardware requiring proprietary code. Relatively quick and straightforward to install and upgrade. Includes a full range of GPL music instructional software and will run on most x86 machines. Highly useable.

- APODIO is an "...audio computer on a live CD bootable distribution".
- Dynebolic - a GNU/Linux distribution "... shaped on the needs of media activists, artists and teachers".

- Commercial Live CD - "Studio ... to Go!". Put out by the same poeple who make Rosegarden so you can rely on that program working well. It has a limited selection of software designed to get you up and running as quickly as possible. Includes support for VSTs and DSSIs (synth plug-ins) and is designed to work well on an existing Windows box. Requires 800MHz+ CPU and plenty of memory.
